Opportunities a calling

You know when something so awesome happens that you can’t quiet believe its really happening?  Yeah I have had one of those weeks!  You see I am a member on the Diaper Sewing Diva’s forum and answered the call for testers for a diaper pattern a back in Feburary.  So I sewed up my testers and really enjoyed the pattern.  It was well fitting with good coverage.  Fast forward to now.  I am finally in on the big secret and get sent a box overflowing with delicious fabric to sew more diapers.

Oh wait did I just say big secret?  That’s right I was in on a WONDERFUL secret!  But the cat is out of the bag now!  I got the chance to sew with a new line of fabrics called Babyville Boutique TM the main site is http://babyvilleboutique.com/ and don’t forget to like them on facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/BabyvilleBoutique  This line is being produced by Prym Consumer USA and it is to die for.  Everything coordinates so it is so simple to make really cute stuff.  The line will have 10 print PULs, 14 solid PUL colors, Fold Over Elastic, Snaps, Hook and Loop tape, Appliques, Tags, buttons, and a 60 page instruction manual as well as a terrific fitting diaper pattern!  This is the first time that quality PUL is going to be available in local craft stores!

In case you are wondering what PUL is, it is a fabric with a special waterproof laminate.  The stuff that you will find with babyville boutique is a polyester PUL which is the best way to go to acheive full waterproofness.  I compared the PUL to the old stuff that JoAnns was carrying and it is SO MUCH BETTER.  The stuff that JoAnns has right now is much thicker and stiffer and has a wierd feel to it, as well has being sticky to sew with.  The worse part of the current PUL though is that it delaminates!!!!!  YUCKY!  The colors currently available are also very limited and kinda blah.  Blue, Green, Red and White with some printed PUL that is on the wrong side of the fabric and useless for diapers!  So this soft, drapey, sew like butter PUL has me in heaven.

The fold over elastic is a dream to sew with as well!  It has great stretch and great recovery and unlike other FOE I have sewn with in the past it folds evenly over the fabric!  Then there are the Appliques.  Lets just say ADORABLE.  You have to sew them onto your diapers as you can’t iron PUL but you can iron them on other stuff such as a matching shirt!  That is probably enough of my rambling so on to pictures!
